Education
Ph.D. in Biology from University of California, Berkeley. 2013. GPA: 4.0 B.A. in Biology and Anthropology from Swarthmore College. 2005. GPA: 3.98.
Experience
Most recently I taught Biology (9th and 10th grade) and AP Biology (11th and 12th grade) at the Madeira School, a small, all-girls independent high school in McLean, VA. In the summer of 2013 I attended a week-long workshop on the redesigned AP Biology curriculum, and all my students in the 2013-2014 school year passed the exam with at least a 3, and most students achieved a 4 or 5. During my time in graduate school in Berkeley, I taught several courses to undergraduates, including Introductory Biology, Animal Behavior, and Human Anatomy. I received an Outstanding Graduate Student Instructor Award for the Fall 2009 semester. Also at Berkeley, I was awarded a National Science Foundation Fellowship in K-12 Education, which allowed me to teach a year of 7th grade life science in a local underserved public school. During that time I designed and taught lessons with emphasis on ecology and evolution, and led local field and camping trips for 7th graders.
